As some of you know, in 2018 I joined UNICEF NextGen's Steering Committee. I have been involved with UNICEF for the past 5 years since working with them on the Armani Fragrance Acqua for Life campaign and was so impressed with their work that I decided to dedicate my personal efforts as well. NextGen is the millennial leg of UNICEF so in this new role I fundraise, plan events and provide strategic insight on how to tap into my generation.
NextGen supports specific UNICEF projects with specific fundraising goals. Your contributions have already helped raise $272K for child protection programs in Madagascar. Now we are raising $100K for UNICEF Dominican Republic's Mothers and Babies in Good Care Initiative. A program I saw first hand on my field visit to Santo Domingo in February.
The Mothers and Babies in Good Care Initiative will focus on ten hospitals and community health centers in areas where 70% of maternal and neonatal mortality is concentrated. With our support, at the end of the three-year period at least 45,000 babies will be born in safe conditions. In addition, mothers will be treated with dignity, be protected from obstetric violence and overall, will receive better quality of care.
I sincerely appreciate your support in helping combat these preventable issues.
