The global shut down resulting from Covid-19 has impacted everyone. However, we should stop and think about how fortunate we are in the USA compared to the poorest countries in the world. The complete shut down of tourism in Nepal has devistated the Sherpa community, as foreign tourists provide the vast majority of their income. I had the opportunity to meet many of these humble hard working people on a trip to the Everest region last year. My guide reached out to me recently asking for help for his family and community. I could tell he was asking out of desperation. I immediately sent him $500. To me personally, that's not a small amount of money, but to him it was a lifeline. I got a thank you message a few days later with pictures showing how he helped 25 families with my gift. I'm calling out to all my friends who can give a little. Let's help another 25 needy families. The Sherpa people of Nepal need help.
