Tammy and Barry Mckinlay of Perth, Australia received the heartbreaking news that their daughter Kyra had MLD in October 2017. In a matter of months, the two year old would lose the ability to walk and talk.
But there was more, since the disease runs in families, doctors explained that the baby Tammy was expecting could have the disease as well. .
Suddenly the joy of welcoming their third child became a time of fear and dread. When doctors confirmed the worst, that their newborn son, Chevy, had the disease as well, Tammy and Barry reached out to doctors in MIlan to see if their son could be part of a clinical trial that had showed such promise.
It was too late for Kyra, but the Mckinlays are desperate to help Chevy. Now, Barry and Tammy must scrape together the money to leave their jobs and travel across the globe to Milan, Italy to save Chevy's life.
