To our friends and supporters, we are hoping you and your families are safe, and are so grateful for your incredible generosity during our time of need. For newcomers, thank you for your desire to help.
The Greenburgh Nature Center is located in Greenburgh, NY, in southern Westchester and has been serving the community and beyond for over 45 years. As our trails, native meadow, and outdoor animal exhibits remain open to the public, we continue to be a vital resource in an area with very limited green space. We are a place where nearly 80,000 annual visitors connect with and feel the healing powers of animals and nature. Each year, our talented nature and sustainability educators teach students and the community about animals, the environment, and how to tread lightly on our planet - see Our Programs.
Now more than ever, we all realize just how important and fragile our earth is and how fundamentally important it is for us and our children to learn about and have access to natural spaces. And now is when WE NEED YOUR HELP most.
As a non-profit we count on earned revenues from our educational programming and from visitation to our live animal museum, but this revenue has been lost since we and area schools closed in mid-March. We are extremely grateful to receive a portion (25%) of our operating expenses from the Town of Greenburgh; even with this generous support we are still forced to furlough 2/3 of our staff. You can help us reach our goal to raise $80,000 dollars to offset our greatest needs during this crisis:
- Employees: bring some of our incredibly talented staff back to work Meet Our Staff
- Animal Care: purchase supplies and food for more than 100 live animals
- Grounds Maintenance: maintain our 33 acre nature preserve and outdoor animal exhibits for the community to enjoy
Please know that your donation will help ensure that we will be here and strong as ever for you, your families, your schools and community to enjoy. Gifts of every size make a difference so please give today and multiply your impact by sharing this page with everyone you know!
With deep gratitude and hope for better days for all, we at the Greenburgh Nature Center are so excited to get back to doing what we love!
In the meantime, please visit our beautiful nature preserve using our social distancing regulations and check us out virtually!
