You may know that we have had to cancel many events due to the pandemic. Nineteen events have been cancelled so far, totaling over $13,000 in lost income. We expect to cancel many more.
But the cancellation of events does not cancel the need for the money we would have raised.
We do not receive any funding from the local, state or federal government, We rely heavily on the revenue from events to help cover our general operating costs; this includes salaries (we have had to lay off three part-time staff members), utilities, repair and maintenance costs, insurance payments, etc.
And now, due to COVID-19, we expect to incur additional costs for masks, gloves, hand-sanitizing stations, hand sanitizer, and specialized cleaning products. We will also incur additional salary expenses to cover diligent cleaning of our buildings and grounds to ensure a safe environment for our staff, volunteers, and guests.
We need your help so we can continue the important work to preserve and promote history in Sanilac County.
