This will be the fourth time I have the honor of crossing the finish line with an grateful athlete and amazing friends by my side. I first learned about the Kyle Pease Foundation when one of my best friends son, angel baby Jake Vinson, was the first wheelchair athlete to finish the Georgia Publix Half Marathon years ago. Running races changed that day for me. This is by far my favorite race of the year, only because it's not about me, its so much bigger.
And when I say bigger, I mean the numbers. WOW! The first year I pushed, we had 22 teams. Last year we had 48. This year we have 58 teams and over 200 participants. Its awesome!
The purpose of the Kyle Pease Foundation is to create awareness and raise funds to promote success for persons with disabilities by providing assistance to meet their individual needs through sports. Direct benefits will be limited to persons with disabilities who need adaptive sports equipment, mobility devices or medical care.
Its all about inclusion - this year we will be pushing Lizzie - an amazing young woman who loves racing and tap dancing. Lizzie herself partnered with another KPease athlete just last October and finished the Marine Corp Marathon in honor of her father who was a Marine during Vietnam.
Please consider making a donation so next year we can continue to build onto one of the best teams I've ever been blessed enough to be part of.
