GoFundme Appeal for ATU-Daryeel for COVID-19 Treatment in Somaliland
Thanks to local Somaliland donors who have directly donated $6000.00 to ATU-Daryeel.
Abaarso Tech University’s ATU-Daryeel Hospital is now the first-line treatment center for COVID-19 in Somaliland under the supervision of the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development. Abaarso Tech University is proud of its doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, pharmacists and all support staff who have bravely stepped up when called to the challenge.
ATU-Daryeel is a 4-year old institution set up to help the 400,000 people in the Ga’an Libah district of Hargeisa, which encompasses many economically-stressed communities and as a teaching hospital for the university’s College of Health and Life Sciences.
ATU-Daryeel Hospital has the capacity to treat 100 patients at a time. It has 4 ICU units, but only 4 ventilators. Like all health care institutions in Somaliland, it requires a major undertaking to quickly upgrade to face the oncoming storm of COVID-19, which is just at the early stages of spreading in the population.
We are asking for your help. Your donations will help us support our staff facing major hurdles in this period- stipends to cover additional costs of being separated from their families, transportation and meals, PPEs and other necessary equipment and also support for the added running costs of the hospital as all patients will be treated free. As you all may know, Somaliland government support cannot meet all the needs of this emergency throughout the nation.
Please donate to support Somaliland in the COVID-19 fight.
