In normal times, we are a 6-week-long intensive summer program in Shakespearean performance and ensemble theater training for college-aged actors.
But these aren't normal times. Like so many of our fellow arts organizations, we at SA@S had to make the difficult decision to cancel our regular training and performance season this year. Amongst the countless people and places hit hard by COVID-19, the arts and artists are up against a wall in this turbulent moment. In Stratford, we're fighting to "keep the lights on" this summer and beyond — but we need your help to do it!
In 2020, we're now offering a broad slate of free online programming. Whether you're an alum of SA@S, an interested prospective student, an audience member, a Stratford community member, or simply a fellow theater-lover and arts enthusiast anywhere in the world, you can join us throughout the summer for a wide variety of master classes, play readings, and cabaret nights. We can't wait to see you there (even if it's on our screens!), and we'd be so grateful for your support in making this newly imagined summer happen.
We believe in supporting the artists who work for us, and in creating opportunities for young theater-makers to learn, grow, and thrive. This would have been our 7th summer of training and performances in Stratford: We have graduated dozens of students, produced 17 of Shakespeare's plays in exhilarating site specific performances, and have become a beloved home not only for our family of artists but for our extended community of supporters and audience members. We may not be able to gather together this summer, but we're not giving up. In order to make it through this chaotic time—and to continue to support our staff, team, and students—we're asking for your help.
No amount is too small, and every gift is deeply appreciated. We at SA@S are dreamers, creators, world-builders, and your contribution will help us keep building in the months and years to come.
Thank you from our hearts. We'll see you—someday soon—back at the theater.
