Skye is a one-year-old Lab mix who has already been through so much, but her zest for life keeps shining through. Living as a stray, the sweet pup suffered a shattered front leg when a truck struck her as she wandered the streets. Ironically, that accident may have saved her life.
Caring folks brought Skye to one of PawsCo’s amazing partner shelters for help. At the shelter, she underwent surgery to attempt to fix her mangled limb. The staff knew that Skye needed a safe and loving place to heal, so they reached out to PawsCo, where one of our amazing fosters opened her heart and home to help this little gal through her recovery.
But Skye’s road to recovery isn’t as smooth as we had hoped. Even with the initial surgery and all of the TLC in her foster home, her injury is too severe. Skye needs another more intricate surgery from a specialized veterinarian to save her leg.
Time is of the essence, Skye is in pain and has a narrow window of time for this surgery to be successful. If PawsCo cannot get her this surgery soon, her leg will need to be amputated.
We’re hopeful that, with your help and her loving PawsCo foster home, Skye will recover fully and be pain-free. We know she’ll do her part, because she’s a survivor; we’re continuously impressed with her love for life, even after all she’s been through. As her foster mom says, “Skye is goofy, fun loving, easy-going and loves to please. She is sweet, loves people and kids equally. She is so calm and good-natured. Anytime you look her way, she wags her tail endlessly.” Skye has become best friends with both the two-legged little kiddos and four-legged furry residents in her foster home, and she follows them around like their little shadow as best as her injured limb allows.
Skye has such a kind and gentle spirit, and so much life left to live.
Now it’s your chance to help Skye heal and have the full life she deserves. We want her to be able to run and play pain-free like other pups, and we’re determined to give her the best chance possible. But we need your help. Please consider donating to help us fund Skye’s surgery costs. Any amount you can offer today helps get her on the road to a full recovery. Thank you.
