Disability Resources works with people with disabilities to enhance their overall quality of life by helping them feel important and special and most importantly a valued member of the team. Our agency empowers people with disabilities to help themselves and grow in the community. This is the most powerful impact that we as an agency can hope to obtain.
With respect to the COVID-19 pandemic, our operations have been drastically impacted with the reduction in the workforce, lack of community donations, and the storefront closed. As we are working in this new normal, it is important to recognize that we are looking at every avenue to help us support our infrastructure. Disability Resources, Inc has furloughed over 60% of our staff. The State of Nevada Aging and Disability Services has mandated a close on our job development program until April 30th without any true understanding of when operations will be able to return to normal and as of April 21st we will continue to remain closed indefinitely, as per our Governor's orders.
Our ability to go into homes for the individuals whom we support teaching life skills has decreased significantly; during these uncertain times, the families and individuals with disabilities want to limit any unnecessary exposure. While we understand the rationale, Disability Resources, Inc wants to continue to provide these resources that are desperately needed in the community.
We know that so many businesses are facing and will experience extreme financial hardship during this time and Disability Resources wants to be able to reopen its doors to continue to support the community in the near future. However, without support during this time, DRI may not be able to weather the storm. Without donations, we are on our way to having to close our doors permanently, affecting the lives of all of the individuals and families with disabilities in our community that we strive to support everyday. Any donation that you may be able to provide today will help us to reopen our doors and continue with our eWaste Recycling and Job Training Program to not only better our community but reduce plastic waste in our environment.
We are so grateful for the continued support we receive and we are thankful for your monetary donation to help us through this tough time. #InThisTogether
