I hope this finds you healthy during these extraordinary times. The Covid Pandemic has had a great toll on all of us, but families that were already living in poverty, with jobs in the manufacturing and service-related industries have been especially hard hit. C4Kids did apply for extra funding during this time from the town, and we were awarded, a grant of $8,000. But this money is dwindling, and we are now entering into the fall and winter, Christmas is only a few months away, and concern over a second wave is looming.
We have assisted an additional 30 families, since March; the families have been large, and the government subsidies have not been enough to cover their rent and food etc. They have required prolonged assistance, something that we have not had to deal with before. The Innisfil Food Bank and C4Kids have been working together to help meet the increased needs. We have continued to maintain our usual programs, birthday present program, Easter, Backpacks, and we are gearing up for Christmas. This is the time of year that we check in with families to make sure that they have warm clothing and we expect there will be an increased demand for clothing expenditures.
This year we have not been able to do fundraising and our food and toy drives will be impacted by the school regulations regarding food handling and collecting of toys. Many of the churches that assist us are operating with a reduced congregation. In addition, many of our donors have experienced financial hardships themselves.
We are reaching out to the community to let them know that although we are not as visible in the community this year, we are busy working behind the scenes helping the people of Innisfil.
We are in desperate need of your support. No donation is too small and any donation of $20 or more will receive an official tax receipt.
