On April 16, 2021, the police in Nairobi, Kenya raided the safe house that shelters our trans sisters who are refugees from their home counties where they experience violence and murder.
The police beat up every one and arrested eight trans sisters. Three were released yet five remain in custody.
At the time the safe house was invaded by the police we were having a vigil for Chriton “Trinidad” Atuhwera, a 22 year-old Ugandan refugee who was murdered in a homophobic attack at the Kakuma refugee camp.
Our five trans sisters are still in police custody where are subject to violence by the Kenyan authorities. They need immediate medical and psychological support.
HELP us raise $ 5500 to contribute to bail, housing, medical and psychological support.
We need must support our sisters, fight against transphobic sanctioned violence and help bring them to safety.
We miss them.
