Please help your family, friends, colleagues, and all of our medical professionals, emergency room professionals, emergency medical techs, nurses, ambulance drivers, physicians, hospitals, first-responders, mental health professionals, volunteers, police, fire, government agencies, social services agencies, community members, and many more in the fight against COVID-19.
At this time, there is a vast shortage of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to safeguard everyone. Those providing necessary care are at increased risk of contracting COVID-19. Access to PPE will help protect both the public and these critical caregivers as they work to help those with COVID-19 and those at risk. Our healthcare workers and medical staff are in dire need of N95 masks that will allow them to safely and properly screen and treat patients for coronavirus by filtering out airborne particles that may flow from either the patient or medical staff.
We must keep people safe!
GDAHC has access to a supply of N95 face masks through a partnership with an automotive supplier. The masks are air-shipped from China in lots of 100,000 once an order is validated.
We are eager to offer these masks at-cost to the people and organizations who need them most. Recognizing that some of the people and organizations in need of these masks have limited resources, GDAHC has started a fundraiser to help offset the cost of the masks including shipping from China and local distribution. Our initial fundraising goal is $400,000. Contributions will ensure that many of our front-line defenders have the protective masks that they need, and are not asked to reuse soiled masks, in order to keep the public safe.
Please consider making a donation. Your donation will help those in the trenches fighting to flatten the curve. Any and all donations are welcome and deeply appreciated.
With deepest gratitude,
GDAHC President and CEO
COVID-19 Background Info
Last week the World Health Organization declared the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic. Since then, diagnoses of the coronavirus have skyrocketed across the country and in Michigan. As of posting this fundraiser, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 1,328 confirmed cases across the state. But, due to the nature of the virus, these numbers are likely much higher.
At present, our community’s medical staff are experiencing a massive shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks, gowns, gloves, and sanitizer.
