Country Roads Animal Rescue Society is a non-profit 501c3 rescue organization dedicated to saving animals in need in Oklahoma. We are a foster-based rescue, meaning that all of our dogs live in loving homes until adopted. This also means that when we lose one, it's not just our staff that hurts. We have been hit harder by our medical costs than ever before and have had to go on "intake hold" as a result - meaning we have had to close our doors to dogs in need until we can pay down some of our unprecedented bills. It is breaking our hearts to turn away dogs who need us while fighting for the ones we have - and losing some of those fights.
Just in the first three weeks of March, we accrued $23,325 in medical bills!!!
We have fought through cases of Parvo, blood transfusions, emergency room hospitalizations, sudden surgeries, hematoma repairs, professional behaviorist rehabilitation and training, and the list goes on. We are broken, but we have to keep going - and we need your help! We CANNOT continue saving lives until our medical bills are covered. Every penny will help us achieve our goal of opening our doors and continuing to save as many as we can. We have rescued over 6,000 dogs since we opened in 2015 and we cannot stop now!
We will always fight for our babies and our hearts shatter when we lose them. We'd like to take this moment to remember M'Lynn and Shelby, two bottle babies who had such severe cases of hookworms that they required blood transfusions but could not pull through. We also remember Clyde, who was hit by a car in a freak accident and did not make it past his injuries. We remember the 4 newborn babies, born just this past week, who have crossed the rainbow bridge due to infectious herpes, for which there is no cure. Several of these babies are still hospitalized fighting for their lives and we will continue to update you!
THANK YOU for fighting with us!! We hope this hiatus will be over soon thanks to our amazing community and we can continue our life-saving mission!
