At the end of class recently, one of my Brooklyn Boatworks students said the most exciting part of our class that day was "figuring out how to fix the things that went wrong" ... can you imagine a world of young people with leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills who are exciting about fixing things things that go wrong in the world?
This is my second year teaching for Brooklyn Boatworks - NYC students work together to build Optimist pram sailboats, which they launch into New York Harbor at the end of the school year. The skills they learn & develop extend far beyond the doors of our classroom.
We are a small non-profit and depend on the generosity of others to continue to run our programming and grow to serve our students in new ways. Give the invaluable gift of boat-building to young people this holiday season, any amount helps!
