Help Our Adopted Daughter Fight Ovarian Cancer.
We are currently raising funds here and at our organization home page hopepositiveafrica.org for our dear, Noella. Noella is a founding member of the community we built of poor women, HIV+ abandoned moms, orphans, widows, and genocide survivors. She has been more than an asset, more than a friend, she has become like a daughter to myself and my wife, Hope Phillips, the founder and president of our organization.
It is very hard to put into words how much Noella means to us, to her family, to our community in Uganda. We have a Facebook group Friends of HOPE+ Africa where you can find out more about Noella and how she is doing. We post there daily.
Noella was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer a few months ago. She is young and had many hopes, to be married, to have kids, to build a business, but all that is on hold now as she battles cancer. Noella is a survivor, an orphan, and a firm beliver in the goodness of God despite a massive amount of suffering and loss in her short three decade life.
She is on her second round of chemo and her doctor is recomending a drug that is going to cost $7K for 12 doses. We don't know if this drug will cure Noella or just make things easier for awhile, but we are trying to do all we can to give her every chance to live and beat this cancer. Uganda's health care system is very poor and we are seeking assistance for medication now and possible treatment abroad.
If you can give any amount it will help. If all you can do is pray, that helps too. Thanks for standing with us as we care for Noella durring this difficult time.
