Shoppers at The Hub know that our space is small and cramped in the second half of the Freedom Waste shop. The shop contributes noise and sometimes unpleasant smells to the atmosphere in The Hub. The space is also too tall to allow for temperature regulation, which makes it hard on both volunteers and shoppers to be comfortable. At the same time, the space is too small to allow a good flow through the shopping floor, as well as providing adequate storage space for all of the generous donations we receive. Rain often leads to minor indoor flooding, which can ruin donations. We also are unable to provide restrooms, as well as easily accessible shopping areas. The Hub is extremely limited in its capacity to grow and change by the current facility.
We hope to change all of that by moving into a much nicer, much more appropriate facility for The Hub. We currently have an opportunity in front of us that would change The Hub for the better. We would have more space and temperature regulation, as well as the ability to expand the hours and days we are open. This would also give us the chance to increase our impact in the community.
However, because The Hub is a free store and does not bring money in on its own at this time, we are dependent on the help of our supporters to make this dream become a reality. Please help us by donating so that we can provide a better experience for all of our loyal customers, volunteers, and supporters! Your donations will be used exclusively for The Hub, including securing a new facility for The Hub, paying rent and utilities, buying new displays, and adding items to help make The Hub more successful long-term.
