As many of you know, for the last five years, our daughter, Meg, has worked with a South African based non-profit organization called Imagine Scholar. During this time, we've had the opportunity to watch her students begin and thrive in their university journeys, have hosted them in our home while they attend summer programs in the US, and have spent time with the scholars at the program in South Africa. We are continually impressed by these students, who are some of the brightest, most dedicated kids we've ever met!
Imagine Scholar has grown immensely both figuratively and literally during Meg's involvement. In this time, 300 students have been impacted by their education and leadership programming. They are supporting 50 students in university, and students have earned more than one million dollars in scholarships.
For our birthdays this year, (which are just 5 days apart), Tim and I would like to support Imagine Scholar's continued growth.
Currently, the organization has one five-seater car. Not only is this too small to transport their 6 person staff, but more significantly, this is very limiting for students' participation in meaningful experiential learning opportunities such as job shadows and academic camps.
This has inspired us to jumpstart a campaign to begin the process for Imagine Scholar to purchase a van.
Thank you in advance for helping us celebrate our birthdays in a meaningful way!
Sincerely,
Joan and Tim
