We envision a society where all stages of life offer meaningful opportunities for growth, connection and joy; where people of all backgrounds and economic means can age with dignity, purpose and self-determination.

Easthampton Neighbors is a member driven, non-profit organization that provides volunteer services and programs to seniors who strive to live independent, engaged lives at home.Easthampton Neighbors is a “stay at home” community centered in Easthampton in the Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) that matches volunteers with senior members in need of services that are not available through other support organizations. The Village Movement began over seventeen years ago with the formation of the member-driven Beacon Hill Village in Boston. As a pioneering model, Beacon Hill has inspired the development of over 300 Villages across the country, including several in western Massachusetts. The Easthampton Neighbors Village was formed to identify and meet the needs that enable Easthampton seniors to stay in their homes and neighborhoods as they age.A small group of interested residents of Easthampton began discussions about starting a Village in Easthampton in the fall of 2018. Recognizing the economic and social transformation that is taking place in the city, the group realized that setting up a Village is critical for seniors at this stage. Due to the exponential growth of the elder population and economic constraints on this target demographic, there is a great need to provide “gap” services for seniors that are not offered through the local elderly programs. The steering committee for Easthampton Neighbors was formed in the spring of 2019, and we joined the Village to Village network, a national organization that provides assistance and resources for developing Villages. In the summer of 2019, Easthampton Neighbors formed a founding Board of Directors, developed a mission statement and bylaws, and received 501(c)(3) non-profit status. Many other Villages in the VtV network charge a fee for membership, but Easthampton Neighbors decided to have a no fee policy. We rely on donations from our members, and support from local businesses and industry. In the fall of 2019 we added new Board members, established relationships with several strategic partners, and wrote several grant proposals. In early 2020 we initiated a major fundraising campaign and a recruitment effort for members and volunteers.
