This year, I'm volunteering for the Wine, Women, and Shoes event on Oct. 27 in Short Pump to raise money to support the Bon Secours Forensic Nursing Program. The compassionate nurses who work in this program are health care providers who also collect and help preserve evidence when they comfort and examine patients who have survived domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. A few quick stats about the Bon Secours Forensic Nursing Program to give you a sense of its important work: the program in 2018 responded to 2,450 calls for service, making it one of the busiest forensic nuring teams in the nation; nealy half of the patients care for by the program are children; and since 2015, the program has cared for more than 160 people exploited by human traffickers. Please consider donating to this important cause. No amount is too small. Thanks.
