Albanian churches here in Brooklyn and New Jersey are helping Albanian families who have immigrated to the New York City metro region in the last year. Many of these families were just getting settled and adjusting to life when the COVID 19 crisis struck. They have been caught ‘in-between’ their former life in Albania and their hope for building a new life here.
Many were still looking for or had just gotten first jobs. Many have small children and are now trying to care for them at home. Most do not yet speak English enough to find needed help. Without income they have rents and expenses which cannot be met right now and without a work history or a recent tax filings they will not be receiving the help and ‘economic impact' checks that most in this country have received or will get under the recent CARES act from the government.
We want to provide them our own ‘economic impact help’ for April and May to bridge their household expenses through this crisis up to the amount of $2500 per household.
We personally know and have identified Albanian families in need through our church members in the boroughs of New York City and the metro area. We need your donations to get financial help to them immediately for May. We are the only support for these families right now as public resources are limited or they are unqualified for them. Thank you for your care and concern alongside us for these struggling families in our community!
