Built in the 1970's, the gymnasium of Resurrection Lutheran Church (formerly Pilgrim Lutheran Church / Martin Luther School) is a hub for community outreach and engagement. The building is the home of Love the Hungry - a nonprofit organization that has provided more than 6.5 million nutrient-rich meals to malnourished children worldwide. It is also utilized for many recreational activities, including youth soccer, basketball, and softball training. Throughout the year, the gymnasium is the site for large social gatherings and meetings of the regional South Sudananese community, including an annual birthday party for the Lost Boys of Sudan. Other uses include office space for mission teams that benefit South Sudan and Haiti.
Many improvements have been made to the facility, but recently the gym's forty-year-old wall-mounted heating units have begun to fail and are only operating at 15% capacity. Without immediate replacement of these units, events and activites during the busy winter season may have to be cancelled - resulting in a significant loss of community engagement and revenue that is vital to the mission of Resurrection Lutheran Church. The need is urgent, and every dollar of your donation will go directly toward the cost of replacing the heating units that are essential to the use of the facility.
