SciArtLab is an innovative science and art curriculum developed just for PS34 by Science Specialist Shanti Crawford, in collaboration with Eckford Street Studio. After our successful launch last school year, we have reinterpreted this hands-on and engaging program to a live virtual format that all students can participate in, whether they are blended or fully remote learners.
To support the hands-on aspect of SciArtLab, our goal is to create SciArtLab Kits for each student to keep at home while investigating the physics of sound, from scientific and artistic perspectives. These kits will include a set of tuning forks for each child, as well as a variety of other sound-making materials to explore, and all the art supplies they will need for an art project inspired by what they learn!
This year, we are not able to hold an in person fundraiser for materials like we did last year, and while Eckford Street Studio is donating some art supplies, because of COVID-19 the studio is not in a position to purchase new supplies for the program this year.
Your donation of $20 covers the cost of program materials for one child; if you are able to donate more, you will help support families who cannot contribute the full amount during this time. AND your donation is fully tax deductible!
Personnel costs for this program are paid for by Walentas Family Foundation Neighborhood Schools Grant.
