Hey everyone!
We are Core Leaders at Youth Movement of Justice and Organizing at the Chinese Progressive Association in San Francisco. We focus on youth organizing, social justice/political education, and developing leadership skills of predominantly low-income Chinese American youth.
We were recently given the opportunity to attend the AAPI Youth Convening from July 5-8 in Philadelphia, PA. This convening will bring together youth organizers from across the nation, and we’re super excited to attend because ….
Megan: this convening is a rare space where I can build with other youth organizers from across the nation who are doing necessary work in their communities for social justice. At this convening I hope to develop organizing skills and expand my scope of learning and movement building to include experiences of youth organizers not only in the SF Bay Area but also nationwide. I’m also excited to learn how we can practice solidarity by supporting the work of other orgs, as well as learn from other organizers to inform ways we can progress with MOJO’s mental health justice campaign!
Kelvin: This gathering of youth organizers is an amazing opportunity where youth leaders from all around the world are able to build bonds, connections, and ideas that can further assist them in helping and fighting for injustices in their communities. I am excited to meet new youth leaders and develop my organizing skills to better lead my community back at home.
Madison: this is a great opportunity not only to just learn about the different things going on in our country, but also to learn about how other youth organizers have come together and tackle these issues. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet fellow youth leaders and to learn with them on how to lead and organize furthermore in solidarity with others.
Nathaniel: This is an opportunity for me to learn about and support other organizations around the country and the issues they are fighting. I am enthusiastic about meeting youth leaders and advance my leadership and organizing skills.
But we need your help with funds! If you contribute to our fundraising campaign, you will be helping us afford the plane tickets to Philly, transportation, lodging, and make this valuable opportunity to connect with other youth organizers more accessible. We appreciate donations of any amount!
With love and solidarity,
Madison Her, Megan Duong, Kelvin Li, Nathaniel Teng
