The creator of this magnificent painting is Harry Antis, a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, and an accomplished wildlife painter. In his final years, Mr. Antis used his significant painting skills to paint religious scenes important to him. Describing his work as art that preaches the Gospel, the painting is 7 feet wide and more than 5 feet tall including its frame.
Mrs. Antis, having an inventory of her husband's works in her home basement, has put some of the paintings up for sale to provide financial security for her in her later years.
The students, faculty, staff, and friends of Concordia University Ann Arbor are purchasing this painting to be presented and displayed in the University's new North Building as a memorial gift, commemorating the building's addition to the University. Any additional funds raised will be used in a campaign to distribute religious art in other campus buildings.
