UPDATE: Thanks to your support Roberto's bond has been paid and he is scheduled to be released tonight.
A message from Roberto's partner: "I thank all of you in my husband’s name and on behalf of my children. We will never forget all of your generosity. Although I do not have the money to pay all of you back, I promise to help others who are in need. May god bless you all."
Since ICE ripped Roberto* from his home in an early morning raid, the result has been devastating on his family. His youngest child cries nonstop asking for her father to return. His fiancée is struggling to support the family on her own.
Roberto has made the U.S. and the state of New York his home for almost half of his life. Roberto’s fiancée and his three children all have legal status in the U.S. He is the only one in his family who is undocumented. Before being arrested by ICE in an early morning home raid, Roberto was the pillar of his family. He worked hard to support his fiancée and their children. He was the glue that held the family together. He regularly attended church and was involved in his community.
Roberto and his family are desperate for him to be released from detention. He is particularly eager to be released before Christmas in order to spend this special time with his family. If released he will be able to fight his immigration case from a position of freedom with the support of his pro bono attorney, his social worker, and his family.
Roberto has to pay a $12,000 bond in order to get out of ICE detention. The New York Immigrant Freedom Fund, a program of the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, has already committed $10,000 towards paying the bond, but his family needs your help to raise the remaining $2,000.
Your donation in any amount will ensure that Roberto can celebrate Christmas at home with his fiancée and their three children.
