Dear Tilden Families,
The Tilden PTSA is thinking of the students, families, and teachers during this unusual time of separation. As we all adjust to life amid the coronavirus outbreak, some families in our community are having a particularly hard time and are struggling. Mrs. LaGrange and the school counselors have been in touch with families at our school who need food and basic necessities. Despite the heroic efforts of MCPS to distribute meals to students, many families still need additional support.
You can help!
Over the next few weeks, the Tilden PTSA will be holding a drive for grocery store gift cards for Tilden families in need. The PTSA will coordinate and collect the donations and will work with Mrs. LaGrange to ensure the gift cards are distributed to families who need them and that confidentiality is maintained.
Option 1 – Online Donation through GoFundMe
Your online monetary donation through this GoFundMe campaign will be applied to the purchase of gift cards to local stores to help families with their grocery and pharmacy needs.
Option 2 – Purchase an Online Gift Card from Target
Option 3 – Purchase and Donate a Physical Gift Card
If you prefer to purchase a gift card on your own, this is completely fine. You may donate a physical gift card from one of the lcoal grocery stores, pharmacies, or Target. Please email TildenCares2020@gmail.com to coordinate how/where to complete the drop off.
You may choose the amount to donate, but if you can contribute $25 or $50, it will go a long way toward helping a family afford necessities. All options will be confidentially distributed by Tilden staff to families in need.
With school now closed through the end of the school year, please donate early and often so we can help our Tilden families when they need it most. Our goal is to collect contributions until June 1 to help families throughout the summer.
If you have any questions, please email Celina Schmidt, PTSA President, or Sheri Steisel Weiss, PTSA Cluster Representative, at TildenCares2020@gmail.com.
Thank you so much for your generosity and support during this difficult time.
