It is difficult to describe the pain we are all feeling for Lebanon at this very moment. Over the past year, we have witnessed the devasting fires that burned the Cedars last September and the beginning of the revolution in October. And when we thought our beloved Lebanon and its people could not suffer any more hardship, COVID-19 paralyzed the country, worsened the already precarious economic situation, and thrust many Lebanese into poverty and hunger.
The tragic events of August 4, 2020 are unfathomable. The trauma that is bestowed on our people is heartbreaking. The economic situation has devasted Lebanon in ways that leave us at a loss for words. To hear that mothers are bartering clothes for breastmilk is gut wrenching. To learn that children are going to bed night after night with empty stomachs is unfathomable. And knowing that we are nowhere near the end of this crisis is heartbreaking. Lebanon has survived countless bombings, a crippling civil war and inflation. Lebanese people are resilient and they will survive this. HCSC has an important role to play by continuing operations to best serve our community. The economic situation is dire. Every day, more and more people are losing their jobs, and fathers and mothers are unable to provide for their children. We are partnering with St. Vincent de Paul, Hammana to provide for those in need. St. Vincent de Paul, Hammana prepares and delivers 75 hot meals a week for the hungry in Hammana. They also pay for medications and fuel for those who cannot afford them. However, many more are in need. With your help, St. Vincent de Paul can increase the number of mouths they feed and ensure those who need medication receive it. Hammana has given us all so much, it is time to help our brothers and sisters now, when it truly matters. 100% of proceeds will be sent to St. Vincent de Paul in USD. Will you help us help Hammana? All donations are tax deductible.
