Dakota's story starts in South Carolina. He was left outside in a field tied up. He was able to be picked up but all the surrounding Rescues were full. So that's when Florida Great Pyrenees Rescue was contacted. Fortunately we had a volunteer in the area on their way back to Florida. Unfortunately we were not told that Dakota was mostly blind 😥
He is the most amazing, grateful, loving boy! He has too much love and life to not be able to see the beautiful world around him and the people who love him, his loving Foster family! A few months ago, he saw the eye doctor who determined that the cause of his blindness is cataracts and they can be removed with great success, once he passes his retina test. He is able to see shadows, and play a little in the daylight with his brothers and sisters, but frequently walks into walls and fences. The cost of all of this is $5000. A few months ago, we had a fundraiser and were only able to raise $1500. Until we raise the total, he cannot proceed. He loves everything and everyone❤️ People, dogs, cats.... he lives for affection and is grateful for every waking minute. Once he has this surgery, he will be able to be adopted and have a furever family of his own. Won't you help us help him? No amount is too small for this true gentle giant. He thanks you very much!
