We are seeking help in covering Thor’s MRI diagnostics, due to his difficulties walking and keeping balance. His hind legs and spine need further evaluation, that is expensive for our small rescue group.
Since we had rescued Thor, about 2,5 weeks ago, he had been having several issues, including difficulty walking. Thor would lose balance and sometimes trip and fall. We already had completed X-ray, and veterinary evaluation, and were referred to a neurologist specialist at Sage Veterinary Center, Campbell.
Thor had a consult with a neurology specialist at Sage today to see what we can do to help him with his hind legs. According to the neurologist, ithout knowing a lot about his history, it can possibly be a number of different issues with his spinal cord (disc rupture, degenerative myelopathy, tumor, meningitis and he needs an MRI and spinal tap to get a better diagnosis. Additionally, he appears to have some soft tissue injury in his groin area and will need physical therapy to help him heal. The estimates for these tests range from $3300-$4800 and we expect there to be more expenses for treatment after the diagnosis, depending on what course of action is needed.
Thor is a very sweet and smart dog, he loves people, and is very affectionate and playful. We do not know much about him, he was found by a security guard by a mall in San Jose, and brought to the shelter. Thor has a wonderful and caring foster, who takes a very nice care, takes to the appointments and follow ups. We need to complete his diagnostics to find out how we can help him to get better, and be adopted and have his own family!
Every little bit helps, $5, $20 or any amount will help us to reach the goal and be able to help Thor. We hope very much he will be able to walk pain-free again!
