COVID-19 is dangerous for children, but not in the way you are thinking.
With schools closed and sheltering-in-place the last two months have seen a significant increase in domestic violence and children calling for help. The majority of the callers to the sexual abuse hotlines have been children who were currently living with their abusers.
Will you help us answer their call for help?
There are 105,000 children in NY who are either homeless or in alternative living situations. Due to COVID-19, these vulnerable children no longer have access to safe spaces like school, or social support systems. We want these children to know how to reach out for help. And we want to make sure that their calls for help are answered.
Childhood funds programs that:Keep the hotlines staffed. Make counselors available to speak with children who are at risk of violence and abuse. Provide vulnerable children when they are collecting their meals with information on how to get help.
Your donation will help us to ensure that every call from a child in need gets answered, and every child gets the help and protection they need.
