BARKS rescued 6 emaciated kittens today from a camping trailer where 16 adult cats had been abandoned. The adult cats are being fed and water on site while we work on safe placements for them, but we found 6 starving kittens on the brink of succumbing to malnutrition as their mothers were unable to produce enough milk to keep them alive.
All of the kittens weigh less than half of what they should for their age, and several are about 1/3 of their healthy body weight. They are receiving intensive care, supplemental heat, rehydration, hourly nutrition support (none are eating on their own), and anti parasitic medications.
BARKS has been hit hard like all of you by the Covid 19 pandemic, with approximately $40,000 in lost fund raising revenue, so would be great full for any support you can offer. In the past 3 weeks we have taken in approximately 30 kittens needing intestine care and/or bottle feeding. Can you help us to keep on saving more cats and kittens? No donation is too small.
