Although it is spring, the season of hope and renewal, Covid 19 virus has hit the pause button for all of us. Normal life has stopped and we are doing the best we can to try to hold things together.
This is true at Auerfarm as well. Over the last forty years many of you, your families and schools have come to the farm for unique educational programs, to pick fruit and produce, visit our animals or walk the trails that cover the 120 acres of property.
For those of you who don’t know about us, we are a working farm and environmental education center open for all to enjoy -- a hidden gem up a quiet, country road. We welcome and encourage everyone to stop by, even during these troubling times. It is now more important than ever to come take a walk, enjoy nature and restore your soul. Admission is free. That’s an offer you don’t get very often.
During the course of a normal day we would have classes from numerous schools exploring the farm while learning about nature, farm life and the changes the seasons bring. While we serve the greater Hartford area, we also host visiting schools from all over Connecticut. Our education program provides the majority of funding to run the farm. We receive no state or town support. All of our funding is from education programs and individual donations from people like you. This is why we have come to you to ask for any help you can give to support Auerfarm during these tough times. Although life has paused, we still have animals to feed and care for, grounds to maintain, gardens to plant and bills to pay.
Please take a minute to make a donation. Your donation is needed and appreciated more than you know. To find out more about Auerfarm and our mission please visit our website or Facebook. We are a small community farm with a lot of heart.
