Aquarium of the Bay was approved by the San Francisco Department of Health to reopen on June 29th. Plans were made, staff was recalled back to work, the front of the aquarium was decorated patriotically for the 4th of July Weekend and then we were informed by the Mayors Office our opening was paused.. We are asking for the publics support during our now 16 weeks of shut down. California's only Smithsonian Affiliated Aquarium is ready to open once the City and County of San Francisco allow us to reopen.
As the 'Shelter in Place Public Health Order for COVID 19' continues through Week 16 in San Francisco, the Aquarium of the Bay needs your help and support more than ever.
Our dedicated team will continue to monitor the health, habitat requirements and feeding of the 24,000 animals and 186 species in our care during this closure through April 7, 2020. We look to your generosity in this difficult period to meet our obligations as a public institution that has served millions over the last 24 years. Our online teaching resources and Eco gift shop offers other ways in which you could support your aquarium and its programs.
Please consider a donation via Go Fund Me, or you may mail your checks to Aquarium of the Bay or bay.org, at 55 Francisco Street, Suite 710, San Francisco, CA 94133. We look forward to having you with us when we open our doors in April with new programs and initiatives.
Aquarium of the Bay/bay.org is a 501(c)(3) non profit. Tax ID # 90.0401015.
