11-year-old Alyssa lives in a two-bedroom apartment with her mom and two younger sisters. When she looks out her window she sees an abandoned house, a vacant, trash-filled lot and a crumbling sidewalk.
Alyssa is struggling in 6th grade because she has to share her computer with her third grade sister and babysit her 3-year-old sibling when her mom is working.
You and I know nature’s blend of crisp air, bubbling streams, trees and solitude would work wonders for Alyssa, whose days are filled with the jarring sounds of traffic and sirens.
You know how good she would feel in such a setting. She does not know that. The nearest park is four miles away, and she has never been there. Alyssa needs a chance to get a breath of fresh air, both literally and figuratively.
The good news is you can help her. Will you please give Alyssa a chance to feel the joy of the outdoors and the sense of freedom she deserves? Your gift would mean so much to Alyssa and other kids like her.
Without a means to connect to nature, Alyssa may never know what it is like to hike in the woods. To look for frogs. To sit around a campfire. To know the sense of relaxation the outdoors provides. Too many children don’t have equal access to the outdoors and are missing its immense benefits.
You can help children in need feel better. The kids of our community need you. I hope you will provide a gift so kids like Alyssa have a chance to expand her world and show her nature’s healing power. Children’s well-being should not be an after-thought. You have the chance to help the kids who need us most.
You will love how you feel knowing you provided opportunities for kids to thrive, even during these challenging times. People like you and I do things like this because we care deeply about our children and their future.
Kids are on screens more than ever these days and we need your help to get them outside.
Through nature experiences, engagement and education, Footpath Kids' lives are truly enriched.
Will you please donate today? It is urgently needed. Thank you.
