The Wilmington Youth Rowing Association (WYRA) Boathouse is located on the Christina River in Wilmington, Delaware. The Mission of WYRA is to use the sport of rowing and related educational programs to promote physical, mental, and social wellness in young people of all social, racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. The WYRA programs are for youth from the ages of 10 to 18 and build essential lifelong values including physical fitness, health, responsibility, self-discipline, teamwork, leadership, commitment, and the pursuit of excellence.
Your donation will help sponsor a youth-at-risk to one of WYRA’s rowing programs. These include our fall, winter or spring competitive and recreational rowing programs. WYRA also offers a choice of three summer camps. These programs are the perfect platform for personal growth, self-expression and the exploration of the body and mind in a supportive and team-oriented environment.
Organized sports participation has been proven to directly and positively impact middle and high school teens, fostering a more positive attitude toward life, social integration, school work, improved academic performance and higher grades. As the “Ultimate Team Sport”, no other athletic endeavor for youth is as effective in combining these facets of personal growth so intimately or compellingly.
Help a deserving youth to “Join the Crew”!
