The American Legion Post 176 was Chartered on January 12, 1920, 100 years ago. For those 100 years it has served the San Fernando and Northeast Valley communities. In service to community it has provided affordable event space for community functions and events, such as weddings, Baptisms, Quinceaneras, funerals and fundraisers for community members and organizations. This is the Post and the very stage where Ritchie Valens made his professional debut.
Post 176, in addition to housing the American Legion, the Post also houses the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 176, Post 176 Legion Riders, SFV Marine Corps League Detachment 1277, SFV Young Marines and the San Fernando American Legion Boosters Club. Post sponsored events include a community Thanksgiving feast, a Christmas party for our community children (500 last year). We provide accommodations for the Red Cross Blood Bank and a Polling Place for all elections.
Our Post building, constructed in the 1930’s, and needs major rehabilitation and updating. To accomplish this we need your help! We have generous donations of skilled labor from our members and community. Our minimum goal is $50,000.00. The estimate for materials and equipment.
Thank you for your generous support of our Post, the community and the Veterans who call it home. We cannot do this without you!
