Dear Family and Friends,
A little over a year ago I began supporting Exhale to Inhale (ETI) as a consultant with strategic planning and fundraising activities. Exhale to Inhale provides free, trauma-informed yoga classes for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault at shelters and other community organizations throughout New York City and trains yoga and allied professionals how to use and apply its methodology with individuals who have experienced trauma. I learned about the organization about 6 years ago from a friend and colleague from my Unilever days, Amy Tobin, who helped launch and lead the organization as a volunteer.
While Roger and I have supported ETI over the years, my commitment to the organization and its mission has increased as I've learned about its clients and programs from the leadership team of staff and Board members. As I've written grants and helped draft communication materials, I've learned how prevalent the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault are today. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes and the US Department of Justice reports that someone is assaulted every 98 seconds.
While I am sheltering safely and comfortably at home with Roger and Mark, I think about all of the survivors who are less safe at home and are now dealing with trauma 24/7, many with young kids who they need to protect. To support these survivors, I have created a team to raise funds for ETI's #aspacetobreathecampaign. ETI will use the funds it receives to deliver its trauma-informed classes to survivors at home and in shelters, overworked staff members who support them, and the community at large...including all of us...who all need a space to breathe through this challenging time. So please consider making a donation of any amount to help ETI support more survivors during this time of need. Thank you for your consideration and support.
Will you help me create more spaces to breathe?
Right now, more than ever, survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault need #aspacetobreathe. These unprecedented circumstances have left survivors particularly vulnerable and under-resourced.
I’m honored to stand with survivors and support Exhale to Inhale as they provide the lifelong healing resource of trauma-informed yoga to survivors.
Stand with me today. Your donation will help raise critical funds that are needed now, more than ever.
Because we all deserve #aspacetobreathe.
