Helen Healy was a young single woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwnt a double mastectomy and subsequent treatment. She was never expected to have children but after retuning to her family home in Ireland, she met a young man and married. She gave birth to her son Phillip. When her husband died unexpectedly, she returned to the states with Phillip, raising him in Sacramento. Her love of Irish dance led her to become a founding member of the Sacramento Irish American Ceili Dancers. Always looking for ways to give back and with gratitude for her life blessings, Helen started a small annual fundraing campaign with her friends. As a 40 year victor over her cancer, she was able to raise more than $4,000 through the years for breast cancer research from her friends. Helen passed June 13, 2018, at age 85, still cancer free. As a way to remember Helen and honor her loving memory the Sacramento Irish American Ceili Dancers have taken on this event in her name. We hope you will share in her memory and donate.
