I am starting this fundraiser in memory of my Grandpa, Edwin Ferkingstad. My grandpa had a courageous battle with lung cancer. He lost his battle on January 4th 2020. My grandpa had a huge impact on his community and those he came into contact with. He had one of the biggest hearts anyone could ever have. He was a great mentor, grandpa, dad, teacher and the list goes on.
Every year my family and I participate in a walk called "The Fools Five". Its a road race to fundraise money for cancer research. This year 2020 the road race was cancelled. Due to Covid-19. This really saddened me and the rest of my famliy. So I thought what better way then to start a fundraiser and donate this year.
My mother also fought breast cancer. She is still currently in remission. I have a cousin who fought a battle with classic hodgkins lymphoma. Cancer has struck our family with a couple more family members who have fought.
This is why The Fools Five road race is so important to our family. To help fund research programs, to help patients in need of rides to and from chemo and the list goes on.
It would mean so much to me to meet my goal of $500 to be donated in my Grandpas memory. Thank you for taking the time to read through my story.
