In 2013, the city of Boston was devastated by the bombings at the Boston Marathon. The strength and comradery the community showed following this tragedy were insurmountable. My brother, Jeff Bauman, is a survivor of the bombing at the finish line, where he lost both of his legs above the knee. Through perseverance and courage, he has strived every day to live his best life and help others live theirs. This year, his determination has inspired me to set out on a journey I would never have pictured myself completing, and that is to run the Boston Marathon. The journey Jeff has been on since April 15, 2013, along with all the other individuals affected by the bombing, is what will be driving me to be able to conquer the course this April.
Heather Abbott is also a survivor of the Marathon bombing; she lost her left leg below the knee. Heather has since created the Heather Abbott Foundation that takes the extra step not just to help those affected by the bombing but anyone with a limb loss to live the life they want. The HAF helps to provide customized prostheses to those who have suffered limb loss through traumatic circumstances, assisting with their journeys through life.
With your support, these donations will help amputees obtain prostheses they would not otherwise be able to afford.
So, thank you for your donations and stay updated on our journey to the 2020 Boston Marathon!
