My name is Dana Lawson and I am a survivor: of cancer, amputation, trauma, and domestic abuse.
I am also a woman on a mission: To turn my pain into purpose.
I've been on a quest to complete a marathon for over two decades! This June I intend to finally achieve my goal and to do so while bringing awareness to a cause I'm super passionate about.
On June 6th, I will compete in the North Olympic Discovery Marathon--a point-to-point race between Sequim and Port Angeles, Washington (on crutches!)--to raise awareness and funds for survivors of domestic abuse.
My goal is to shine a light on the shadowy truth of domestic abuse (incidents of which have risen steeply during the COVID pandemic), to give voice to the victims rendered voiceless by their abusers, and to build an empowered global community of survivors and their advocates.
I would love for you to join us. Become a supporter, cheer us on, share the message, follow along on race day, and meet me at the finish line! Together we will challenge ourselves, each other, and the world to reimagine what is possible.

Later this year, Nature's Academy, the education nonprofit I founded in 2007, will launch Unbounded Horizons, a new outdoor healing and recovery program for domestic abuse survivors.
By utilizing the healing power of the natural environment and group support, Unbounded Horizons assists participants in developing more confidence, self-compassion, and self-worth. Graduates gain the ability to unlearn conditioned behaviors and beliefs, such as helplessness and shame, and leave the program with new skills to successfully rebuild their lives.
All donations to this campaign will directly fund the content, programming, and logistical support for Unbounded Horizons.
