Douglas County Community Health Clinic, Inc (Health Care Clinic) has been providing low/no cost family planning & reproductive health services in our community for over 4 decades. As you may know we are a very small non-profit in Northern WI.; serving the needs of un/under insured folks, those seeking confidential services, or individuals seeking safe and inclusive care outside of the traditional medical system in 3 counties. The recent COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty it has created for our friends, loved ones, businesses and the non-profit world has not gone without touching HCC.
In 2019, HCC served 485 patients in Ashland, Bayfield, and Douglas counties. Patients that clinic staff provided one on one assistance enrolling in WI Medicaid programs, provided non-biased patient education and counseling that leads to informed decision making , and inclusive patient affirming care.
In order to protect the health and safety of both staff and patients, we have had to temporarily reduce the number of patients that we see, as well as discontinue seeing 'walk-in'patients indefinitely. To abide by both the Govenor's 'Safer at Home' order and social distancing best practices, we have also cancelled our annual Spring fundraiser. Unlike other medical providers in our area, financially we will not be able to sustain a long term reduction in patients or fundraising opportunities. Without the revenue generated through billable services and fundraising opportunities, services that we provided 'pre COVID-19' may no longer be available to patients that desperately need them.
Our clinic must make it through this, and we can't do it alone! We are working to raise $10,000 over the next 31 days to ensure that we continue to have the resources available for anyone in Northern Wisconsin seeking family planning and reproductive health services. Please consider making a donation today!
