Healing Hope Cat Sanctuary is a private, not for profit 501c3 that specializes in caring for felines that no one else wants: The elderly, cats with chronic health problems, cats with behavioral issues and even some feral cats. We have been working in Southern California for over 26 years helping take in such unadoptable cats. In addition we have worked tirelessly in our community to control the feral cat population problem . .. thus helping not only cats but the residents of our city. Even now, we go out nightly at 1 am to feed our feral cat colonies. It costs a lot to keep approx 30 cats permanently. In addition to the monthly food and litter bill ($1400), we incur at least $1000 a month in vet bills and an additional $600 a month for medical supplies and medications not available from our veterinarian. Right now, of our 30 cats, we have many senior cats over the age of 13. Many are requiring dental extractions, blood work and medications. We do NOT DO HEROICS, but it is our obligation to keep our cats as comfortable as possible. We also find that by doing extensive in-home supportive care (fluids, diets, and supplements) that are cats live a lot longer with a better quality of life . . . and is actually less expensive than heroic veterinary care. What most people also don't realize is that when you have a rescue organization on private property, there are huge upkeep expenses. We have constant repairs . .. . to our fencing, upkeep of the yard and trees, as well as plumbing and even electrical repairs. In January we incurred a $900 plumbing repair. And also since the beginning of 2018 we also have had $1200 in other property care expenses. The winter Holidays brings out the best in people and we receive the bulk of our donations then. But we have now used up any reserve money and don't even have money on our credit cards. As of June 15th, 2018, . . . this upcoming Friday. .. . we will not have any money to pay for cat food or vet bills. So, we are in urgent need of help!
