Update August 1, 2020 - Lala had her surgery and has healed beautifully. Check our her picture on the back of the couch - the scar is so unnoticable! She has been online for a few weeks and just got a wonderful application that is really a great match! She is on a home trial with the family and we will be keeping our fingers, toes and paws crossed that it goes well. We still have this fundraiser open as we are hoping to get a little more support on the vet bill for her surgery.
July 3, 2020 - Lala, a sweet young Beagle mix, found herself at the Montgomery county shelter not only pregnant, but also with an oozing sore on her forehead. Luckily, Pup Squad was able to scoop her up and she had her babies in a loving foster home. Both the team at Montgomery County and Pup Squad's wonderful vets treated Lala for the wound on her forehead as aggressively as possible while she was pregnant and nursing.
As soon as the puppies were weaned, we started focusing on getting Lala healthy. That's when things took a turn. When stronger antibiotics didn't do the trick, Lala was X-rayed, and we discovered she has a broken bone in her sinus cavity caused by a previous injury (beaten? abused?). That bone and additional dead bone at the site of the original injury were the source of infection.
We can't imagine how much pain Lala has been experiencing, yet, despite that, she is the sweetest dog. Humans have failed Lala in the past, so we can't fail her now.
The good news is that Lala's condition is imminently treatable, and she is expected to make a full recovery. A CAT scan at Gulf Coast determined the infection was localized. Her eyes, nasal passages nor brain were affected and once the broken bone is removed and the dead bone is cleaned out, Lala should be 100% A-Okay. This is a fantastic prognosis!
Unfortunately, Lala's remedy is expensive. We know this is a complicated time to be asking for financial help. However, Pup Squad was founded on a commitment to Momma Dogs. Humans have failed Lala, in the past, so we can't fail her now.
Our ability to cover the cost of healing abused dogs like Lala is dependent on your kind and generous support. Both Lala and Pup Squad will be forever grateful for any and all support you are able to provide. Thank you!!!!!
