Provide Effective Mental Health Treatment to Veterans and Their Families
For every soldier lost in combat, 25-30 take their own lives upon return. Suicide—rooted in trauma, isolation, and mental illness—is 75 percent more lethal than physical warfare. Despite the government's best efforts to provide therapy and treatment through Veterans Affairs, six of our nation's heroes are lost each day to suicide.
Headstrong exists to provide the best and most effective mental healthcare in the country—for free—to veterans and their families. Headstrong has eliminated hurdles that veterans experience with existing programs by providing cost-free assistance with experienced clinicians and individualized care without the wait time or extensive forms. Treatment helps veterans and their families overcome mental health hurdles and regain a quality of life they love.
Since its founding in 2012, Headstrong has treated over 700 veterans, helping them regain their mental fitness, wholeness, and vivacity. It costs the program as little as $5,000 to treat one veteran for as long as they need. Zach Iscol, founder of Headstrong, shares the story of how one young suicidal veteran found a breakthrough. “Your sacrifice warranted help" were the words that reached him and he received treatment for a month. He identified the self-afflicting false beliefs and through peer group therapy and peer supervision, the man broke down the walls, dismantled the lies, and found true wholeness.
