Hope Crisis Center, a non-profit organization serving victims of domestic and sexual violence in Southeast Nebraska, is launching the Building Hope Capital Campaign to support the renovation of a facility that will feature two secure apartment-style shelters, trauma-informed client spaces, and our administrative offices.
As we launch the Building Hope Capital Campaign, our goal is to have this project completely funded at $550,000 within three years. As of October 2018, we have already received $126,854 from generous businesses, foundations, and individuals and it continues to increase regularly.
According to the most recent National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, twenty people are physically abused by their partners every minute. That’s ten million victims each year—many of whom are your neighbors. Will you lend a hand?
Hope Crisis Center has been helping families rebuild their lives free from violence since 1992 as a branch of Blue Valley Community Action. Seeing a steady need for domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy, Hope Crisis Center became an independent organization in 2006. While we offer many services for the benefit of our communities, one could argue that shelter is the most essential. Without a safe place to go, victims are forced to choose between violence and homelessness—a choice that no one should ever have to make.
Last year our program provided 1,510 nights of shelter, reflecting a critical need. Since Hope Crisis Center shelters primarily in hotels, no one is ever forced to wait for an opening during their time of need. Unfortunately, we are currently struggling with an unprecedented shortage of shelter availability in some counties due to a lack of hotels and an influx in visitors. To ensure that this resource remains available in shortage areas, Hope Crisis Center is launching the Building Hope Capital Campaign.
With construction well underway, the facility space and shelters will be ready for use early in 2019. We’ve made tremendous progress in a short time, but we need your help to keep the momentum going! Please consider adding your name to the ever growing list of people who are Building Hope for survivors of violence in our communities.
Hope is where the future takes root. Together we can plant the seeds of a brighter tomorrow for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Thank you for supporting Hope Crisis Center’s Building Hope Campaign for Safe Shelter!
