Last year was a year filled with surprises and sorrow for all of us; 2020 started out as a new year of plans and excitement. Then, Covid-19 hit and made the year a time of adjustment for everyone... including HBIC. While there were so many things to focus on, our primary concern was maintaining the same "personal connection" with our students and clients through our computer screens. This, and doing everything else possible to take care of the staff that have given so much of themselves in taking care of our program participants.
On March 13, 2020 we received the news that campus sites must be "temporarily CLOSED" to assure the safety of our students, clients, and staff. Within the week, the entire organization made the never-before-attempted and difficult transition to 100% distance learning and virtual programming. Something almost unheard of for our population.
The hardships and struggles have been abundant. Maintaining high participation levels of our students and clients during the pandemic, and holding on to our employees has come at a significant cost to the organization.
More than 50% of HBIC program participants are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In recognition of National Autism Awareness Month, help our students and clients in seeking light through the hardships by donating today. Your donation would mean a lot to our staff, students, and clients at HBIC.
