Haywood Christian Academy is pleased to announce the opening of a brand new gym on our 7-acre campus! For 13 years, our school has been faithful to its mission of “developing students into Christian leaders by providing an excellent educational experience on a foundation of Biblical truth”. Since the school’s inception in 2007, HCA has partnered with various community organizations for indoor athletic space. These partnerships include Central Haywood High, Waynesville First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church of Waynesville, Broyhill Children’s Home and Maggie Valley First Baptist Church, where the school currently holds all practices and home games. Critical community partnerships such as these have helped undergird the school’s athletic programs for the past thirteen years, helping it become the thriving program it is today. We will always be eternally thankful to the many community supporters who have invested in our mission.
As we begin our 14th year, we have been given the opportunity to minister to our entire community in a more impactful way. In August, HCA broke ground and in June we opened the new facility that will not only meet critical safety, support, and expansion needs of our existing pre-k – twelfth grade program, but this gymnasium will also be a place where community youth can come together in a beautiful, safe, well-lit, central location in Waynesville. The vision for our gymnasium includes summer camp offerings, sports and skills camps, youth meetings, pastor conferences, and a site for “A Night to Shine” for students with disabilities, just to name a few. The possibilities are limitless to how we can reach our community with this facility.
As we entered into this project during the pandemic, God continued to reassure us that His timing is never wrong. He perfectly aligned and ordered our steps for groundbreaking to begin, the build to happen and a grand opening that included a HCA Senior Varsity vs. HCA Alumni basketball game. Although the building is open and ready for use, we do have needs (such as bleachers, team chairs, a sound system, concession stand, etc) to make the building complete and we are continuing to step out in faith and, with God’s help and the critical support from fellow co-laborers in Christ, we know that we can complete this vision in the 2021-2022 school year.
Please prayerfully consider either a one-time donation to this very worthy cause or a monthly contribution. The reality of this new facility for our community, and especially its youth, during unprecedented and dark times is a glorious testimony of God’s provision and we pray the many activities that are held here will continue to bring hope and joy to many!
“Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.” Psalm 127:1
