We have 8 thoroughbred horses that are owner transfers for reasons such as terminal cancer, abandonment, seizures from animal control and neglect. We buy square bale grass hay from a local buyer and they are $6.50 plus delivery. These horses can eat a bale a day. We also use round bales which are $40+ a bale. They will feed 4 horses for about a week.
We are a small nonprofit that leases farms to take in these animals rather than have them end up at a sale or worse place. We get their vet work up to date, get them healthy (medications, supplements), give them senior feed or special feed if needed. We get their farrier work done as well.
All of these services are done by volunteers and all bills are paid by donations to our rescue and our personal funds from our own jobs. I, Lisa, have helped horses since I was young in the 90's. Our rescue has been certified 501(c)3 since 2014.
We have photos and albums full of the horses we have helped on our website mcconathyfarmrescue.com and on Facebook page, McConathy Farm Rescue Team.
Please join our team of rescuers by donating toward our hay campaign. Thank you for your time.
